Background: Hyperandrogenism (HA) is required for diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and it is central to PCOS pathogenesis. Putative mechanisms of hyperandrogenism include disregulation of steroidogenesis, plasma transport and peripheral tissue regulation.
